How To Play Wordle
As a quick note: Wordle went viral all over social media back in early 2022, and was then purchased by the New York Times Games. This is still where the original is hosted; it can be played on the Crossword app or the NYT site itself. All answers and hints in this article will be about this version. There are many copycat versions of Wordle, but they will most likely have different answers. Here’s how to play it.

First, head to the site and choose a good starting Wordle word. This word:
Needs to be five letters long. Must be a real English word. Should contain a variety of common letters. Can contain duplicated letters. Cannot be a proper noun.
Type the word into the Wordle site and press enter. This will cause the letters to change colors.
Letters that change to green are correct. If the letter changes to gray, it is incorrect. Yellow letters are right but in the wrong place in the word.
Players have just six total tries to get to the answer of the day. Puzzles reset daily at midnight local time, so there is only one word for everyone every day. After the puzzle of the day is complete, a menu will pop up on the screen. It’s filled with the player’s stats, time until the next puzzle is available, and even a spoiler-free share button.
