The latest Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice trailer opens with a shot of a Japanese village engulfed in flames as well as the protagonist laying on the ground in the mud and blood. Before long, the trailer cuts to plenty of action, sword fights, stealth takedowns, and interesting new traversal mechanics like wall-jumping. New abilities are also briefly shown including a stealth kill that causes a red cloud to erupt from the victim, although what it actually does isn’t revealed.

As one would expect from FromSoftware, the trailer also shows off a number of hulking monsters and boss fights. One such fight shows the player squaring off against a smaller boss who moves around the room on nearly invisible wires as the roof of the building burns above them. Another encounter is against a hulking individual who is able to seemingly pull the player into a shadow realm during the fight and summon multiple copies of himself with a giant bladed weapon.

Even with the new abilities and traversal methods like grappling, FromSoftware promises that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is actually shaping up to be more challenging than anything the developer has made before. Unlike previous games, players will seemingly get two chances as dying will present players with the ability to resurrect themselves under certain conditions for a tactical advantage. In addition, the game will also be more open to different types of players, from those who want to take their time and be more methodical to others who would rather rush in head long and engage in blade combat.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launches on March 22, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
