Players will encounter O’Rin of the Water on their way through the Mibu Village late in Sekiro’s story. She will be on the path towards the first Corrupted Monk boss, which is a boss fight necessary to unlocking the main Sekiro ending.
O’Rin of the Water Boss Fight
Initially, players can go up to O’Rin of the Water and hear her story but eventually, they will have the option to fight her. Also if Sekiro players try to run past her, she will take issue and start the fight regardless.
Almost immediately, players will notice that O’Rin of the Water is a spirit and can phase in and out. She is also one of the faster Sekiro bosses, so players will want to keep their guard up as much as possible.
How to Use Divine Confetti
In order to damage O’Rin of the Water, Sekiro players will want to use Divine Confetti on their sword. Not only does Divine Confetti boost attack power against a number of enemies, it also works wonders against enemies like O’Rin of the Water. Depending on how quick players are, they may need to use multiple Divine Confetti during the fight, so it’s a good idea to have it equipped on the quick item menu.
From there, the focus of the fight is dodging, blocking, and deflecting where possible. The main attack that players want to look out for is when O’Rin floats to the side and then dashes forward. Make sure to have your guard up or be ready to deflect. Unfortunately, you cannot attack O’Rin of the Water during this sweep move.
At certain times, O’Rin of the Water will trigger her Perilous Attack – a sweep from right to the left. To counter her Perilous Attack jump up and land on her head, which will build posture damage.
If you have a good handle on deflects in Sekiro, it is possible to beat O’Rin of the Water without Divine Confetti by inflicting posture damage. She has a few quick attacks that can be tough to deflect but it is possible to build her posture without needing to do much actual damage. Then, once her posture meter is full, do a deathblow.
Overall, O’Rin of the Water can be a tough Sekiro boss if players have not yet learned about Divine Confetti or if they are not confident in their deflects. But with some useful tricks, she is fairly easy. Once O’Rin of the Water is defeated, she will give players a Prayer Bead that they can use towards increasing their health and posture.
