Highlighting the new wave of Sega Genesis Mini confirmed games are two games that stand in stark contrast and yet will likely conjure similar feelings of nostalgia. The first is the iconic tile-matching game Tetris, which admittedly isn’t often associated with Sega or the Genisis. The second is Sega’s own tile-matching game that did its very best to recreate the feeling of Tetris while standing on its own. Ask a Sega fan and they might even say it’s better than Tetris. Columns, as demanded, will be a part of the Sega Genesis Mini collection.

Beyond Tetris and Columns, there are ten other new additions to the Sega Genesis Mini line-up. They range from platformers like Alisia Dragoon, SHMUPs like Darius, to motorcycle racing games that are better known for their brutal combat like Road Rash 2.

Alex Kidd Alisia Dragoon Altered Beast Beyond Oasis Castle of Illusion Castlevania: Bloodlines Columns Comix Zone Contra: Hard Corps Darius Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine Dynamite Headdy Earthworm Jim Ecco the Dolphin Eternal Champions Ghouls ’n Ghosts Golden Axe Gunstar Heroes Kid Chameleon Landstalkers Light Crusader Mega Man: The Wily Wars Monster World 4 Phantasy Star 4 Road Rash 2 Shining Force Shinobi 3 Space Harrier 2 Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Sonic Spinball Street Fighter 2 Streets of Rage 2 Super Fantasy Zone Tetris Thunder Force 3 Toe Jam & Earl Vectorman Virtua Fighter 2 Wonderboy in Monster World World of Illusion

While Sega certainly brought its A-game when it put together this 42-game collection, there are always going to be some requests that can’t be met. Some of the most requested games that didn’t make the cut include Ristar, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, Snow Bros, and licensed games like Aladdin, X-Men 2, and Jurassic Park.

With the Sega Genesis Mini’s full line-up of 42 games now revealed, all fans can do is wait for launch. The Sega Genesis Mini release date is September 19. It will cost $79.99 and includes two wired controllers, power adapters, and an HDMI cable.
