Here’s what we know so far: the SEC will begin its season on Sept. 26, and each team will play a 10 conference-only regular-season games. The SEC joins the ACC and Big 12 as the three Power 5 conferences that will have a fall college football season.
We also know Week 1 matchups thanks to early schedule teases Monday. LSU, the defending national champions, opens its season at home against Mississippi State and first-year coach Mike Leach. That is among the headliner games in the first week of the season.
SEC schools have won three of the six national championships in the College Football Playoff era, and the conference has the most College Football Playoff appearances with seven.
