Payton (with an A, and from a different sport, among other dissimilarities) clearly wasted little time posting it to his Instagram and Twitter accounts. Good thing he did, too; otherwise, many would have taken it as an internet hoax, a clever Photoshop or some other technological fakery.

Instead, it was just your run-of-the-mill newsroom deadline goof, in the city where he’s the Payton who immediately comes to the minds of still-suffering Sonics lovers, not some quarterback who took a beating by the local NFL franchise in last year’s Super Bowl.

To be fair, though, both Payton and Peyton have just one ring and probably should have more.
